Balconies

INTRODUCTION  back to presentation

Load tests or destructive inspections are risky for balconies and projections, where the location and condition ot the reinforcements are especially important. In addition to the inconvenience that destructive methods cause in inhabited buildings, these are likely to weaken the structure irreversibly. For balconies and projections RCT provides the only available solution.

The load that a balcony can support strongly depends on the position and size of the reinforcing steel bars especially in the vecinity of the main structure.  The precision obtained with RCT (~ 1/32" for diameters, ~3/8" for positions), is not achieved with any other non destructive method.
