Field job

The information is obtained by means of gammagraphies, that is, 35 x 43 cm (14 x 17) radiographic emulsions exposed to gamma rays from a radioactive source transmitted through the structure under examination.

RCT is also convenient because structural studies in inhabited buildings can usually be carried out without the need of moving furniture as in the study of a column shown above, with a book shelf in the radiation path between the source and the plate.

Gamma rays do not induce any radioactivity or damage in the exposed materials. They have the advantage over X-rays of not requiring electrical power so that the equipment is easy to carry and quite suitable for field work in buildings, bridges and various types of structures.
