Both X-rays and gamma rays must be used with care because otherwise they may be harmful to human tissue.  When people take a chest X-ray the doctor walks away during irradiation as a precaution.

For the same reason when THASA is undertaking a measurement shielding is used and THASA's trained and certified personnel follow the regulations and precautions common to all industrial radiography procedures.

Concern about the use of radiation is sometimes voiced when THASA services are required.

It must be noted that radioisotope gamma rays do not induce any radioactivity or damage on the exposed materials.
